Ivan Rodriguez

I was born in the town of Tocopilla in the second region of Chile, in september 15 of 1972. I lived most of my life in Antofagasta, a small city on the coast right next to the Tropic of Capricorn. This is a messy city in the middle of desert, sand, dirt, rocks and a very blue sea.

 

I have never received training in art, I am a psychologist, but I´m seeking all the time new ways to communicate my self with the humanity. All my work in painting, sculpture, storytelling and music are a crude way of putting out some issues about myself and my relationship with others.

 

I am not seeking the perfection, the beauty, the ugly or the horrible in a specific way, but I try to capture something that lies between the concepts, words and pictures, try to take a snapshot of what is in the differences between the beautiful and horrible, white and black, love and hate, order and order (not a repetition error).

 

If we classify my work, we can say that is a surreal art, but this is not accurate, since it corresponds more to the Demoniac Art (in the philosophical sense that Enrico Castelli presents the works of Bosco) or some Demoniac Neo Art.

My main influences are Salvador Dali, Bosch, Bruegel and HR Giger.
